Black Cat Girl 90 x 74 cm

$8,500.00

Black Cat Girl (2025) is an intimate oil on canvas painted in Mallorca, Spain. The portrait depicts a Ukrainian young woman from within the local yoga community, her steady gaze meeting the viewer while a black cat rests calmly in her arms. On the table beside her lie a clock, books, and a hair brush — symbols of time, memory, and the beauty rituals practiced by women across cultures. The presence of the cat evokes the timeless role of pets as guardians and soul mates, deepening the work’s aura of tenderness and mystery. Bridging the personal and the universal, Black Cat Girl offers collectors a narrative portrait rich in symbolism and emotional resonance.

I painted this during six months in Mallorca, living beside a yogi after my year in the rugged wilderness of Tuscany. The Finca felt like extreme luxury by contrast, a soft landing and a launching pad toward my return to Paris. Out of that season came Black Cat Girl — a portrait woven with the quiet rituals of beauty, the steadfast guardianship of pets, and the mystery of resilience in a shifting life.
